- Oxford 3000
3000 keywords that are widely used in English and regarded as important for expression of general ideas. Click on a word to look it up in the Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary.
- Academic Word List on MyWords
The most useful 600+ words for academic studies. You can find them by logging into Mywords, a vocabulary development tool developed and maintained by HKUST, at http://mywords.ust.hk/. Go to the “Common Words” section. The words are placed in 10 levels based on their frequency of occurrence, and word games and tests can be generated easily.
